In Adair County, Kentucky on August 21, 2017 Columbia, KY - 98.7% of the sun will be blocked by the moon passing in front of it which means we lie just outside the path of totality.
Even though we will miss viewing a total eclipse by only a few degrees it will greatly affect what we see. Though still a highly interesting event here in Adair County, we will be unable to see the phenomena associated with a full eclipse that compels people to travel the world over to experience such wonders.
Having said such, it is imperative that anyone viewing either a total or partial eclipse use appropriate glasses of a ISO 12312-2 international standard.
Here at the Adair County Public Library between 11:00-12:00 (noon) on August 21 we will give out solar eclipse glasses to the first 50 people who come in and request a pair as well as be providing Solar Eclipse information and refreshments. Come on in and join us!
